Overview

Stage 1: Systematic literature review
    1. Our team will comprehensively understand linguistic racism and how to recognize, dissect, and respond to linguistic racism.

    2. How does linguistic racism affect non-native speakers’ mental health (students and faculty members)?

    3. How to use wearable sensors to detect mental health issues.

    4. How different physiological signals connect with various mental health issues.

Stage 2: Controlled Experiments

    1. Our team members will learn about the procedures of semi-structured interviews.

    2. Team members will learn about standard measurement instruments.

    3. All team members will learn about experiment setups with human subjects in controlled environments. (CITI Training, IRB, participants recruitment)

    4. Team members will learn how to analyze physiological signals. (Signal Processing, Matlab/Python, Machine Learning, psychometric analysis)

Stage 3: Field Experiments/Long-term Experiments

    1. We will export long-term physiological data with time tags.

    2. Team members will learn to analyze long-term data and extract meaningful information.

    3. All team members will learn how to construct online surveys (e.g., Qualtrics) for participants’ self-reported anxiety and depression.
